If you’ve ever had a glass of fresh organic orange juice, organic carrot juice, or any other kind or combination of fresh fruit or vegetable juice then you know what an amazing treat it is – tasty, nutritious, and very convenient.
Drinking fresh fruit or vegetable juice is one thing while knowing HOW to drink it is another – and knowing how can make a big difference in increasing the benefits to your.
For example, did you know that it is best to drink fresh juices IMMEDIATELY AFTER JUICING? Why? In a word – enzymes. 50% of the live enzymes in fresh juices die within 30 minutes.
Enzymes are energized protein molecules found in ALL living cells. What do they do?
- They catalyze (activate; mobilize) all biochemical reactions that occur in your body.
- They are vital to digestion – they break down proteins, fats, carbohydrates and fiber for your nutritional benefit while removing the toxins.

If you must store fresh juices then refrigerate them in glass containers so as to reduce the loss of enzymes as much as possible.
Another tip I’ve learned is that when you drink fresh juices it is best to swish the juice around in your mouth before swallowing. Take a swallow into your mouth and swish it around – it is recommended you do so for 30-45 seconds (but honestly, my mouth gets a bit tired so I do it for about 10 seconds). I’ve learned that fresh juices do not get broken down by the acids in the stomach but by the enzymes in our saliva; hence, swishing the juice before swallowing increases salivary enzyme action and ensures greater assimilation of the live enzymes in the juice.
It will feel strange at first but believe me, you not only will get used to doing it but over time it will feel strange NOT doing it!
